Boards were created to promote trade and industry within a municipality and to further the use of agricultural products converted and natural resources of the state by inducing new manufacturing projects to the state.
The Monroeville IDB was incorporated in 1965 and has assisted many industries by financing projects through the issuance of revenue bonds.
In the past, the IDB would only meet to initiate the paperwork required for the issuance of such bonds. Today, IDB members are more active in establishing the foundation for new industries to locate in Monroeville, such as the development of the Monroeville Industrial Park. Funding for the first speculative building, which is the present site for Warrior Tractor Company, came from Alabama Power Foundation to the IDB to finance the construction of the first building in the Industrial Park.
The Industrial Park currently has an EDPA approved Advantage-Site available. This site includes 32 acres with accessible infrastructure. Phase I Engineering has been conducted on the site. For more information about this site or other available properties in the Industrial Park, contact the Monroeville/Monroe County EDA at 251-743-1332.
